Christmas Letter 2010

Dear Friends & Family,
I am going to attempt to blog more frequently, but let me begin my journey with our annual Christmas Update.

2010 has been a year full of blessing!

We welcomed our first child, Lily Anne Guedry on January 5. She weighed 7lbs, 11oz and was 21in long. She is named Lily,(like the flower) after my great-grandmother - Lilian and Joe's grandmother - Lily Mae. Anne was chosen in honor of my sister-n-law Elizabeth Anne, our niece Anna, my dear friend Rachel Anne, our friend - and Lily's care-taker Rose Ann, and one of my favorite literary characters, Ann of Green Gables.
We are thankful everyday for this precious little girl that God has shared with us. She is now 11 months old with curly blond hair and her daddy's blue eyes. Walking everywhere and curious about everything. Her favorite phrase is "what dat?" and she will point or stare and wait patiently for an explanation. Refusing to take a pacifier - her thumb is often in her mouth, but she is very good at self-soothing.  I know it can be a hard habit to break - but for now it is very cute!
I will share more about Lily in future posts -I imagine she will be the subject of the majority of my posts. So, for now let me update you on the rest of the family.
Joe is doing well. His business has survived the economic downturn and we are ever thankful for God's provision. He recently finished some coursework that will allow him to advance further in his field and we appreciate your prayers for the company to continue to grow.
Yes, I am still a teaching. As Joe and I prayed about how to care for Lily, we asked God to make His will unquestionably clear, and He absolutely did. He has filled me with a renewed joy as I minister to my students and fellow teachers. He has provided a home day care, run by a sweet friend and fellow church member, where Lily is socializing and learning. I truly believe that this is His plan for us right now and am so very thankful for His provision.
Shatzi, Mona, and Major love Lily and she giggles at the sight of them.  Major (our mini-schnauzer) has attached himself to Lily. He follows her around the house - always close enough to watch her, but not necessarily close enough for her to reach him. His favorite place is sitting under the highchair waiting for a cheerio. He often ends up with a head full of oatmeal (etc.) that we have spilled down onto him.
We pray that 2011 will be full of joy for you and your families.  I really do intend to update our blog more often, so please follow me if you would like updates.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
Love, Joe, Sarah, & Lily Anne Guedry
